Intro
The Kalthof-Wiliberg ski run is seen as an insider tip in the centre of the country. The varied and slightly hilly route over the plateau between the Suhrental and the Uerkental valley provides a view of the Alps and the Jura mountain chain.
Description
When the Kalthof-Wiliberg cross-country ski club was founded in 1983, not many of them could guess that the ski run was going to become a popular meeting point for cross-country skiers from the Aarau-Zofingen-Sursee area. The slightly hilly circular run, prepared with a new, modern cross-country skiing vehicle since the winter of 2020, starts at the hamlet of Kalthof above Staffelbach.
Away from the traffic and hustle and bustle of normal life, the ski run crosses beautiful countryside across the plain between the Suhrental valley, the Uerkental valley and the Wiggertal valley. The ski run runs alongside a very quiet road before it features a few wooded sections, meandering its way towards Wiliberg in the upper Uerkental valley. On this stretch, past the smallest municipality in Aargau, you can enjoy an impressive view of the Jura mountains of Aargau and Solothurn as well as the Bernese and Central Swiss Alps in good weather.
You can rest and recharge your batteries at the "Bergwirtschaft ufem Chalt", right next to the cross-country ski trail. With varying, gentle climbs and unproblematic downhill sections, you ultimately reach the finish.
An enjoyable tour includes the careful planning of the same. Please inform yourself in advance at the local information center about the route and weather conditions. Depending on the season and weather conditions, this route may be blocked or interrupted
