A delightful snowshoe hike through unspoilt nature: after climbing to the summit of the Niremont, you are rewarded with a magnificent panoramic view from the Jura over the lakes of Geneva and Neuchâtel to the Savoy alps with the Mont Blanc.
Description
After the parking area of Les Pueys, you cross the road and begin the ascent through snowfields and fir trees. The snowshoe trail leads past the Chalet des Errouvines (Les Rouvena) and shortly afterwards crosses the alpine road. A long ascent to the ridge towards Gros Niremont ensues. Traversing the southern slope, you finally reach the flat summit of the Niremont.
After arriving at the summit cross of the Niremont, you will enjoy the spectacular panorama from the Jura over the basin of lake Geneva to the Savoy alps with the Mont Blanc and finally the Valais alps. The surroundings resemble a lunar landscape. This area is also frequented by snowkiters, who, with a bit of luck, offer an amazing spectacle.
After a well-deserved break, the descent begins across the wide saddle towards Gros Niremont. The trail then descends steeply down the wooded ridge to Rathvel.
On the last section, the calves are allowed to recover a little, as the route continues mostly even along the alpine road before the trail dives into the forest. The sun peeks through the heavily snow-covered branches from time to time. The view opens up to the Moléson, the Crête du Moléson and the Teysachaux. A little later, you reach the Casa Derrey alp and finally the parking of Les Pueys.
An enjoyable tour includes the careful planning of the same. Please inform yourself in advance at the local information center about the route and weather conditions. Depending on the season and weather conditions, this route may be blocked or interrupted
