Parcours Robella–Chasseron
Overview
Intro
In winter, this is a wonderful route linking the Val-de-Travers and the 360° panoramic view from the summit of Le Chasseron. After an enjoyable climb through pine trees and pastures, once you reach the broad ridge you are rewarded by a breath-taking view from the Doubs to the Alps.
Description
Right on the border between the cantons of Neuchâtel and Vaud, visitors to the Val-de-Travers can follow the trail to the panoramic view from the summit of Le Chasseron. From the terminus of the Val-de-Travers railway line, the winter sports resort of La Robella is just a few minutes’ walk. The Alpine pasture of La Robella is accessible by ski lift – avoiding a 450-metre climb.
After crossing the Alpine pasture of La Robella towards the Crêt des Lisières, hikers leave the ski slopes and cross the cantonal border from Neuchâtel to Vaud. The pasture of La Grandsonnaz Dessous leads to the Crêt de la Neige, where the trail follows a wooded ridge to the bare shoulder that affords panoramic views on the way up to the Chasseron.
The Jura landscapes of high plains and gentle mountain ridges lend this route a sense of enormity and isolation. As well as providing signage, the team on La Robella often grooms part of the route, so you can move faster on your snowshoes and always stay on the right track. For those who would like to extend their tour, the route between Buttes and La Robella is also marked out for snowshoers.
An enjoyable tour includes the careful planning of the same. Please inform yourself in advance at the local information center about the route and weather conditions. Depending on the season and weather conditions, this route may be blocked or interrupted
