Intro
Fimber Pass from Ischgl to the Lower Engadine is part of so many transalpine routes. On the Trans-Altarezia route it forms the start of a fantastic mountain bike week.
Description
The starting point of the Trans-Altarezia is Samnaun or actually the gondola’s mountain station near Alp Trider Sattel. You could ride up on the bike, but there is still a long day ahead of you. On a gravel track you climb up to Viderjoch and on to Ida-Alpe, still on a gravel track, then down into the Fimba Valley where the long ascent to Fimber Pass begins. A small road leads up to Heidelberger Hut and then switches to a steep path. Most people will opt to walk the bike to the top of the pass, which is a little more than 2600 meters high. A steep and tricky single trail forms the first section of the long downhill ride through Val Sinestra, past a hamlet with historic Hof Zuort and the legendary Hotel Sinestra until finally the village of Sent appears with its picturesque village centre. On the main road, you then coast downhill to Scuol. The village is the hub of the Lower Engadine and the down-to-earth destination of the first stage of the Trans-Altarezia route.
An enjoyable tour includes the careful planning of the same. Please inform yourself in advance at the local information center about the route and weather conditions. Depending on the season and weather conditions, this route may be blocked or interrupted
