Intro

From the mountain fire to the chip under the skin: In the Museum of Communication in Bern, you can find out for yourself how and why people communicate on over 2000 square meters. Touching and trying out is expressly encouraged.

The Museum of Communication at a glance

The Museum of Communication in Bern's Museum Quarter connects the past, present and future of communication on 3 floors. The core exhibition is around 2000 square meters in size and makes analogue and digital communication tangible. In addition to the stations, communicators will also guide you through the topic.

What to experience

Visit the permanent exhibition (1-2 hours)

At numerous stations, you will become active yourself and find out what makes us understand each other. In addition, you can re-enact famous film scenes in film karaoke, hack your teammate in the firewall game or get to the bottom of the data octopus.

  • Good to know: The content is prepared in German, French and English.

Dive deeper on a public guided tour (1-1.5 hours)

A communicator takes you on a tour and opens your eyes to details that you can easily overlook on your own. Sometimes it's about milestones of technology, sometimes about your traces on the net. After the tour, you can walk through the exhibition again and look at the stations with different eyes.

  • Good to know: The topics of the tours change, so it's worth taking a look at the online agenda.
  • Tip: In the dark season, visit the "Dark Gossip" guided tour on Fridays (from 18 years old).

Searching for the squirrel Ratatösk with the children

Ratatösk the squirrel hides in the museum 12 times and puzzles and games await your children with each picture. They recognise scents, place pixel images and use a magnet to steer a PostBus through a hidden object picture.

  • Good to know: The tour is made for children between 4 and 8 years old.
