Bündner Naturmuseum
Overview
Intro
The Graubünden Museum of Nature with its extensive exhibits on 4 floors provides a fascinating insight into the flora, fauna and geology of the canton of Graubünden. Modern special exhibitions furnish an indepth insight into contemporary nature-based topics.
The collections of various Graubünden natural history enthusiasts from the 19th and 20th centuries formed the basis for the establishment of the Graubünden Natural History Museum. Initially housed in the Rhaetian Museum, the natural history and the art collections were relocated in the spring of 1919 to the Villa Planta on the Postplatz, now the Art Museum. Since 1981, the Natural History Museum has been located at Masanserstrasse 31 in a building specially designed for this purpose by architect Bruno Giacometti.
The permanent exhibition is focused on the themes of biodiversity, habitat Graubünden, minerals & geology and fish. The museum also hosts the biodiversity exhibition, which visitors can experience with all their senses.
