In the brick halls of an old Zurich brewery, you will find 6 art houses in one place. You will walk through the exhibitions of contemporary art and be guided through the courtyards and the history of the area.
Löwenbräukunst Zürich – Art Centre at a glance
The Löwenbräukunst site in Zurich-West unites 6 institutions under one roof: The Museum Haus Konstruktiv, the Luma Westbau, the Migros Museum für Gegenwartskunst, the Kunsthalle Zürich, the Galerie Hauser & Wirth and the Edition VFO. The rooms of the former brewery form the stage for contemporary art.
What to experience
Migros Museum of Contemporary Art
On 2 levels, you will be faced with changing solo and group exhibitions by international artists, plus works from your own collection. The museum deliberately seeks the new and the dialogue with the current art scene. In this way, you will get very close to the works, content and perspectives of today.
- Good to know: Admission to the Museum of Contemporary Art is free of charge.
- Tip: Take at least half a day for several houses.
Kunsthalle Zürich
Up to 10 times a year, you will meet established names alongside up-and-coming talents from Europe at the Kunsthalle. The Gigon/Guyer building combines the old industrial backdrop with clear forms. Without a fixed collection, the programme remains constantly in motion, on several floors and always close to the art of today.
- Good to know: A combined ticket is valid for the Kunsthalle and Museum Haus Konstruktiv.
- Tip: With the ZürichCard you can travel free of charge on the tram to the Löwenbräu stop.
Tours of the area (1–2 hours)
A team of art historians will guide you through the old brewery halls and explain how the brewhouse became an art centre. This will give you exciting background information on architecture and exhibitions. On request, the team can also put together a private tour with its own focus on German or English.
- Good to know: You can book private tours in advance through the office.
- Tip: On the last Thursday of the month, the Art Walk West takes you through the rooms free of charge.
