Corbire Bike
Overview
Intro
Alps, forests, several lakes, a skills course and magnificent panoramic views all feature in this sporty tour from the centre of Crans-Montana. The highest point and architectural highlight: the Hotel and Restaurant Chetzeron, a former mountain station.
Description
The medium-difficulty mountain bike circular tour lets you explore the most beautiful slopes of Crans-Montana. You start at the Etang Grenon lake, which offers a stunning view across the Rhone Valley. Located next to the region’s oldest hotel, it’s also considered to be the historic centre of Crans-Montana.
From here, the ascent winds up to the next lake, the Lac de Chermignon. Surrounded by forests, it’s an oasis of calm. Fishing is also popular here. Via Alp Corbire, the highest point of the tour follows: the legendary Hotel and Restaurant Chetzeron, which was once a gondola lift mountain station. The fascinating building combines the rustic style of mountain huts with modern architecture. The terrace and large panoramic window offer a fantastic view of the Alpine peaks – perfect for a break before your descent.
This begins between meadows and forests, winding back down to Lac de Chermignon, and goes around Crans on forest paths. These then join the fun Family Forest Loop. You can improve your technique and balance on the skills course.
The way back along the shore of the Etang de la Moubra lake is ideal for taking a break on the water. You cycle along the bustling Rue Louis Antille, which takes you back to the starting point for the route. The Corbire Bike route combines sporting challenges and pleasure – amidst stunning natural scenery, between panoramic heights and peaceful lakes.
