Isenthal Bike
Overview
Intro
Follow the trails of the last Swiss bear! This tour to the town of Isenthal high above Lake Lucerne is both technically demanding and a test of fitness and also a challenge for skilled bikers.
Description
Along the lake track of Switzerland you reach Isleten, where the ascent starts with fascinating views over the lake of Uri. Further up the valley, you see the lovely mountain village Isenthal, where in 1820 - after a wild hunt - the last bear in Switzerland at that time was shot.
From Isenthal follow the slightly ascending road to St. Jakob. A bit steeper is the road through romantic mountain forests and alpine meadows to Chimiboden. In the last part of the valley the tour really gets tough. The alp track to the highest point of the route, Hinter Alp, is steep and rough. At the cosy alpine hut you can enjoy the view and taste the local specialities.
Freshly invigorated you can tackle the descent. The single trail route after the turn-off Gossalp will excite you. Along the cool stream of Isenthal you follow the descent trail to the beginning of the village. At the view point of Chäppeli, the single trail to Birchi rewards you with a unique view over the lake of Uri. Enjoy a short break here before you make your way down the many curves of the Isenthal road.
An enjoyable tour includes the careful planning of the same. Please inform yourself in advance at the local information center about the route and weather conditions. Depending on the season and weather conditions, this route may be blocked or interrupted
