Parcours des Breuleux
Distance 5 km
Duration 2 h 10 min
Ascent 170 m
The pastured woodland of Les Breuleux is one of the most beautiful sites in the Franches-Montagnes. Vast and mysterious, crossing it is just like immersing yourself in another world where the landscape is covered in endless pine trees that are well enough spread out for a snowshoe excursion.
From Les Breuleux railway station, you must first cross a small section of the village heading south. When entering the forest, you go through a gateway into a magical world dotted with pine trees where there are numerous clearings. The route is ideal in both sunny weather and snowfall.
Midway through, the trail ascends around one hundred metres towards Les Breuleux ski lift. If the facilities are open, a snack bar awaits you. Not too far from there, you’ll find the largest wind farm in Switzerland at Mont Crosin/Mont Soleil; from your track you'll undoubtedly be able to see a few wind turbines.
Les Breuleux’s pasturelands have their own microclimate, meaning it always gets more snow than anywhere else at the same altitude. Slightly hillier, the return trip to the village of Les Breuleux is once again adorned with pine trees.
