Sparenmoos Trail
Overview
Intro
Easy panoramic route over the hilly moorland landscape at Sparenmoos. This sun-drenched high plateau above Zweisimmen boasts magical vistas of the Bernese Alps, the Simmental and Saanenland.
Description
The Sparenmoos (1,640 metres above sea level) is set on a high plateau above the village of Zweisimmen. Here, snowshoe hikers find a quiet and unspoilt sunny moorland landscape.
The signposted Sparenmoos snowshoe trail offers a magnificent mountain panorama with low differences in altitude. This circular route starts right at the parking lot for the Berghaus Sparenmoos and first takes you in a north-east direction through a level snow-covered depression in the landscape. Halfway to the Site Alp there are wide views into the Simmental and of the Niedersimmental pre-Alps. After a slight descent you will reach the Alpine huts on the Site Alp before the trail turns and takes you over a flat ridge and to the area around Tolmoos.
After passing the snow-covered Tolmoos Hut, you reach the highest point of the trail as well as the winter hiking trail and cross-country ski trail which runs from Schiltenegg back to Sparenmoos. Follow the winter hiking trail (or you can walk on the powder snow parallel to the trail) back to the starting point.
An enjoyable tour includes the careful planning of the same. Please inform yourself in advance at the local information center about the route and weather conditions. Depending on the season and weather conditions, this route may be blocked or interrupted
