Enjoy the view of 10 lakes and the Central Swiss mountains on the Fronalpstock. Hike on the panorama trail, dare to walk the tightrope or be impressed by the fantastic view from the viewing platform.
The Fronalpstock at a glance
The Fronalpstock is located at 1922 metres above sea level in the canton Schwyz. A chairlift takes guests from the mountain village of Stoos comfortably to the summit. From there, the view extends to Lake Lucerne, the Rigi, Lake Zug and other lakes as far as the Glarus and Uri Alps. The summit restaurant offers regional cuisine and a large sun terrace.
What to experience
Fronalpstock viewing platform
From the observation deck, you can overlook more than 10 lakes and numerous Alpine peaks – a perfect place for unforgettable photos. The children can let off steam on the large playground or watch the dwarf goats in the petting zoo. You can also enjoy the view from the summit restaurant.
- Good to know: The chairlift takes you directly to the platform.
- Tip: In addition to the restaurant, picnic tables are also available for catering.
Fronalpweg (2–2.5 hours)
With children, the hike on the Fronalpweg is worthwhile. This leads from the summit down to the Stoos-Seeli. 11 stations give you insights into life on the alp. A small wooden ball accompanies you playfully from station to station on the adventure trail. In addition, you will learn about medicinal plants and enjoy the fantastic view.
- Good to know: At Alp Laui you can take a shortcut and take the chairlift back to Stoos.
Ridge hiking trail Klingenstock–Fronalpstock (2 hours)
The ridge hike is one of the most beautiful high-altitude trails in Switzerland. From the Klingenstock, the path leads via the Huser Stock and the Furggeli to the Fronalpstock. The path is well developed and partly secured with chains. However, surefootedness and a head for heights are a prerequisite. At the finish, the summit restaurant awaits.
- Good to know: Be sure to hike from the Klingenstock to the Fronalpstock, not the other way around.
- Tip: On a clear day, you can see all the way to the Bernese Alps from the ridge.
