World Nature Forum
Overview
Intro
The World Nature Forum is the Base Camp of the UNESCO World Heritage Swiss Alps Jungfrau-Aletsch and offers visitors the opportunity to experience the unique high alpine nature, culture and glacial landscape in a profound way with all senses.
On an approximately 1500-square-meter area, the visitor center offers a totally unique interactive exhibition – revolving around the themes landscapes, water and climate.
A highlight of the exhibition is the panoramic cinema with a large 100-square-meter screen. This is slightly curved - allowing visitors to almost plunge into the cinematic World Heritage. With the aid of interactive experience stations, in a playful way, visitors also gain insight into the formation of the Alps. In an original railway carriage from 1912, the planned but never realized southern approach from the Aletsch region to the Jungfraujoch is yet another virtual experience – and an interactive sandbox invites one to a hands-on experience, as you create own mountains and rivers to shape your personal landscape.
Aim of the visitor center is to impart knowledge concerning the natural heritage - and to clarify key issues such as the endangering the Alps, climate change and changes in farming and agriculture.
