DOUG SHORTS [US] & THE RUFFCATS [DE]
Overview
Intro
Sweet & Soulful and the Schaffhausen Jazz Festival present
Soul legend Doug Shorts will be taking over the evening for Rah—and it’s going to be something special. Doug Shorts hails straight from Chicago and brings over 40 years of soul experience to the stage. His voice is deeply rooted in classic Chicago soul, and his songs embody the spirit of legends like Curtis Mayfield. Joining him are the Ruffcats from Berlin—a band that has been one of Europe’s most exciting soul and funk acts for years and has worked with artists such as Flo Mega, Bahamadia, and Jaguar Wright.
Together, they blend warm vintage soul with crisp funk, fat grooves, and a live energy that’s guaranteed to keep you moving. Just in time for the release of their first joint single, “I Ain’t Worried Bout A Thing,” they’re hitting the road—and will be stopping by TapTab on October 9, 2026. In short: authentic soul, a damn good band, and an evening that’s something else. If you’re into groove, you won’t want to miss this.
