Mr. Siro Vierin’s Students: Woodcarving

Under the auspices of the Université populaire d’Entremont, Mr. Siro Vierin , a native of Saint-Oyen (Aosta Valley), has been teaching woodcarving classes for over 25 years. Several participants from Bagnes, Bovernier, Bourg-Saint-Pierre, Liddes, Orsières, Vollèges, and Verbier attend his classes regularly. Recognized as one of the best woodcarvers in the Aosta Valley, he has received numerous awards at the Saint-Ours fairs.

For this exhibition at the Galerie La Belle Toile, Audrey Bruchez, Eric Bruchez, Catherine Vaudan, Clairmonde Vaudan, and Serge Gabioud are presenting works created under his guidance.

Marianne Bataillard: Animal Illustration

Born in Lausanne, Marianne Bataillard is a graduate of the École cantonale des Beaux-Arts. Her professional career balances her artistic practice with her work as a freelance graphic designer and museum curator.

Initially inspired by mineral landscapes and distant travels, her work has shifted toward compositions that straddle the line between figurative and abstract art. Now based in Les Granges-sur-Salvan, she draws inspiration from the rich wildlife of the Trient Valley, which now fuels her artistic practice.

Her work has gradually refocused on figurative drawing, with a particular emphasis on the animal world. Through a combination of sketches made from life and studio illustrations, she has developed a sensitive and vibrant approach to drawing.

A selection of approximately fifty animal illustrations is on display at the Galerie des Combles. These works are created on paper, beginning with backgrounds of colored ink applied spontaneously, then enriched with drawings in India ink and colored pencil.

Opening reception with the artists in attendance on Saturday, August 29, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
