Intro
“Cross-country skiing at the gateway to the town”. Used to practising a physical activity during their mid-day break, many staff employed by the local watchmaking firms down tools and put on their skis.
Description
Since the upper section of the Trail is at over 1,200 metres, skiing is often possible from the first snowfalls.
From La Sombaille in the North-East quarter of the town, after a few minutes you are on the Trail that will lead you to the heights of La Chaux-de-Fonds. If there is not enough snow at the starting point, try the access point a few hundred metres higher at “Chez Capel” or close to the welcoming Maillard café. Skiers arriving from Les Brenets or neighbouring France may prefer to join the Trail at the La Ferme modèle.
Sometimes you are on the northern side of the crest, with a view over the Doubs and the French Jura, sometimes on the southern side with the Alps in the distance and the town just below. And the Pouillerel Trail offers many variants so you can lengthen or shorten your route.
An enjoyable tour includes the careful planning of the same. Please inform yourself in advance at the local information center about the route and weather conditions. Depending on the season and weather conditions, this route may be blocked or interrupted
