Intro
It doesn’t always have to be about the Eiger mountain: At the foot of Wetterhorn, this trail winds through snowy meadows and forests towards the Grosse Scheidegg pass.
Description
The circuit begins at the “Upper Glacier” car park. Between Hotel Wetterhorn and the small kiosk, the trail passes through snowy fields towards Weidli. After just a few minutes, a fantastic view opens up over the winter sports area of Grindelwald-First and the Grosse Scheidegg pass.
The first ascent takes you up to the Ischbodenhütte restaurant. Here, along with local products, guests also get a free view of the Eiger mountain. And no less impressive is the view of the Wetterhorn and the Chrinnenhorn peak, as well as the upper Grindelwald glacier. Then it’s a couple of hundred metres downhill and the final ascent to Unter Lauchbühl begins – the highest point of the trail.
The path passes through open fields, and then back to Hotel Wetterhorn, which can easily be reached by bus from Grindelwald station.
An enjoyable tour includes the careful planning of the same. Please inform yourself in advance at the local information center about the route and weather conditions. Depending on the season and weather conditions, this route may be blocked or interrupted
