Fronalpstock viewpoint
Overview
Intro
The striking viewing platform above Brunnen can be easily reached by chair lift from car-free Stoos. Gaze across the arms of Lake Lucerne to the Black Forest.
The summit of the Fronalpstock boasts an unbeatable 360° panoramic view. Among the sights are the Glarus mountains Glärnisch and Tödi, Uri Rotstock, the central Swiss mountains Pilatus and the two Mythen, Solothurn’s local mountain, the Weissenstein and, across the border, the Vosges. The wide vista of ten lakes and the view down into Rütli, the Uri Reuss Valley and Lucerne are impressive.
The cosy and rustic summit restaurant as well as easy walks on the viewing plateau are ideal for connoisseurs. Families with children can experience happy moments petting the mountain goats. The spacious playground is the ideal spot for fun and games with a spectacular view. Starting out from the Klingenstock chair lift, sure-footed hikers can reach the Fronalpstock via the well-developed, spectacular ridge path, which is partly secured by chains. The descent crosses alpine meadows - past Laui Alpine Farm - back to Stoos.
Tip: The peak experience ticket is the ideal way to discover the Stoos area. Hikers, walkers and connoisseurs can use all cable cars and mountain railways in the area without restrictions for one day. For families, children with the SBB junior travelcard or children’s co-travelcard can travel for free.
