Intro

A very special trail: the Romont Vitroparcours leads young and old alike over the fortress walls of the medieval town and gives them an insight into that multifaceted material, glass. An easy-going, educational tour for the whole family.

Romont is the glass capital of Switzerland! Glass art and stained glass are deeply rooted in this historic town.

The Vitroparcours offers a glass exploration tour for the whole family. It lasts approx. 75 minutes and takes children and grown-up guests on a journey into the world of glass. On eight interactive posts along the medieval city wall, the educational glass trail teaches children about this surprisingly diverse material in a playful way – from the components to glass production and use, and right through to recycling:

  • Who’d have thought that all the components of glass are of natural origin? In fact, glass consists mostly of quartz sand, soda ash and lime!
  • The Swiss are world champions when it comes to recycling waste! Glass is one of the most commonly recycled materials.

These and other exciting facts about glass are waiting to be discovered by grown-ups and children alike.

Vitroparcours quiz

Two exciting quizzes about glass (for children between the ages of 3 and 7 as well as for children aged 8 and up) make the trail even more interactive. The puzzle sheets can be picked up at Romont Tourist Information or at the Vitromusée. Have all the quiz questions been answered? Then the children are in for a colourful surprise!
