Cultivated with pride, lived with joy - that is tradition and customs in the Aletsch Arena. It's great that you can experience this lively approach to history at first hand thanks to the Traditions-Wuchunänd. Let yourself be whisked away to a time when running water and electricity from the socket were not yet a matter of course.
The detailed program 2026 will follow, so much for now:
The weekend kicks off with a tour of the quaint village of Betten - the origin of today's touristy Bettmeralp. The tour is led by Edelbert Mattig, who provides fascinating insights into the history and local life and then invites you to enjoy a Valais "z'Abund".
On Saturday, a street festival awaits you with traditional music, crafts and delicacies from times gone by. True to the motto - Inschi Choscht, inschers Handwärch, inschi Traditione!
A guest canton will be represented by a yodeling association, which will provide musical accompaniment for both the field mass in the morning and the street festival.
On Sunday, Gilihüsine (the original form of hornussen) is on the program. You can even take an active part in the tournament.
