Intro

The Anterior Rhine is well-known for gold panning, so Reka has made this the theme for its Disentis holiday village. There’s a big adventure playground in the form of a small gold-rush town. This features a mine with a mine tower, a gold-panning sluice, an activity area with sand and water, and a kids’ area with a wide range of play equipment.

Description

Enjoy yourself at 1,130 metres above sea level in Disentis, famous for its early eighth-century Benedictine monastery. Here, you can discover the source of the Rhine or explore the unspoiled Val Medel. And with luck, you too will find what has always magically attracted people to Surselva: Alpine gold. Gold fever still draws people to the region. In Disentis, you’ll only be able to pan for gold between May and September – the rest of the year is the closed season. You’ll sense the gold-rush atmosphere in our Reka holiday village too – our younger guests pan for really big nuggets in the adventure park with gold-rush town. With us, you can enjoy unique family holidays, with hiking, biking, climbing and winter sports. In our six buildings, we have 52 modern, roomy holiday apartments available, each with a balcony or seating area, as well as south-facing living and dining rooms.

Family Hotels

The superbly equipped Reka holiday village has everything you could need to make family holidays an unforgettable experience. Disentis itself has plenty to offer its holiday visitors and in summer, especially, the region is a paradise for hikers. Further afield, guests can cool off in the swimming lake at the TCS Camping site, admire the viaduct along with the trains that pass over it, discover the nearby Oberalp Pass, and much more besides. Gold washing is a big thing in Disentis, and holiday visitors are best off learning the skill from the real expert – the renowned Gold-Gusti. He offers an informative introductory course and provides all his visitors with everything they need to wash gold in the upper reaches of the Rhine. A unique family experience for all ages – and with a bit of luck, visitors will strike it rich and find some gold for themselves.
