Aubonne
Intro
The historic town of Aubonne is already seen from afar, owing to its conspicuous white tower that stands proudly above the vineyards. The Signal de Bougy amusement park and National Arboretum lie at no distance from here.
Signal de Bougy is a leisure and recreation park in an idyllic setting overlooking Lake Geneva and the vineyards of the La Côte region. Right next to the adventure park you find a climbing trail in the forest for lovers of pure adventure - and an 18-hole golf course in the vicinity for the sportive at any age.
The round white tower on the castle, in memory of the orient travel of the former Baron Jean-Baptiste Tavernier, towers over the medieval town of Aubonne. The picturesque patrician houses from the 16th to 19th century, the narrow streets and castle courtyard with its arcades and paving stones are easily explored on foot. And as the town lies on a ridge above the valley of the river Aubonne, visitors enjoy wonderful views over the 4-kilometer distant Lake Geneva, which lies around 130 meters deeper - as well as a glimpse of the Mont Blanc massif on a clear day.
On an area of 130 hectares, the nearby National Arboretum of Aubonne presents a magnificent collection of 4,000 trees and shrubs; species from all continents that have become acclimatized to our latitudes. The Arboretum is also home to a wood museum in honor of woodworkers, which displays a large collection of tools and the ingenuity of wood craftsmen and forest workers.
