This is Poschiavo
Poschiavo is the main town of Val Poschiavo and combines Italian flair with the Grisons Alps. The village is located in the southeast of Graubünden, directly on the border with Italy.
Discover Poschiavo
Your walking tour begins in Piazza da Cumün, framed by Italian-style patrician houses. The late Gothic church of San Vittore characterises the townscape as well as Casa Tomé, the oldest house in the village. At the Museo Poschiavino you can learn more about the history and everyday life in the valley. You will also reach the Augustinian monastery of Santa Maria on your tour.
The Bernina Express
The Bernina Express runs through the middle of Poschiavo and connects St. Moritz with Tirano in Italy. The route of the Rhaetian Railway is an UNESCO World Heritage Site and leads over bridges, through tunnels and past the Brusio circular viaduct. From Alp Grüm you can see the Palü glacier and the peaks of the Bernina Group.
Palazzi in the Spaniolenviertel
Along the Via dei Palazzi there are magnificent villas in Venetian style. They were built by emigrated families returning from abroad. To this day, the houses tell of the history of the emigration of the Poschiavo. The historic Hotel Albrici with its Sibyllensaal is also part of this heritage.
Around Poschiavo
On Lake Poschiavo, take the Sassalbo excursion boat. You can swim on the shore at Le Prese. High above Lago di Poschiavo lies the pilgrimage church of San Romerio, reachable by PostBus and a short hike. In Val di Campo you hike through forests and past small lakes.
