Théâtre - Un rapport sur la banalité de l'amour - Casino théâtre
Overview
Intro
This play tells the story of a passionate romance between two extraordinary individuals during the dark days of the Third Reich. Yet everything should have driven them apart.
The story centres on Martin Heidegger, a professor of philosophy at the University of Marburg, and his student Hannah Arendt, who is captivated by his intellect. Very soon, Martin and Hannah become lovers. But Hannah is Jewish and appalled by Hitler, whilst Martin sees in him a new beginning for Germany; he even joins the Nazi movement for a time. Their love is so powerful that their very ideas waver, in a desperate attempt not to understand, but to forgive or to seek forgiveness…
Despite the gulf that separates them, the lovers meet regularly. This impossible and passionate love unfolds in a tumultuous manner, oscillating between sensuality and the violence of the ideological debate that tears them apart. A struggle between heart and conscience, portrayed with striking accuracy
by Sabrina Martin and Frank Semelet.
