Fribourg in 3D

At Espace 1606 guests are transported back to medieval Fribourg. This exhibition presents one of the most beautiful medieval old towns in Europe as a miniature 3D model. The model is based on Martin Martini’s 1606 map of the city, which covers 52 sqm and features more than 7,000 different elements, such as the city walls, people, buildings, trees and bridges. The Espace 1606 took 12 years of meticulous work. The model is dedicated to the rich history of the Zähringer city and shows the historical and socio-cultural heritage of Fribourg.
