The Corviglia funicular and the Piz Nair cable car take you up to over 3000 metres in a short time. At the top of the Piz Nair, a panorama over the Engadine lake landscape and the peaks of the Albula Alps awaits you.

The Corviglia funicular and Piz Nair cable car at a glance

The funicular starts in St. Moritz village and leads via the Chantarella intermediate station to Corviglia at 2489 meters. From there, the cable car takes you up to Piz Nair at 3056 metres in just a few minutes. The cable cars connect the centre of St. Moritz with one of the most beautiful vantage points in the Engadine.

What to experience

Ride on the Corviglia funicular (7 minutes)

Take the funicular directly from St. Moritz up to Corviglia. During the journey, the view of the St. Lake Moritz and the surrounding Engadine peaks. Opened in 1928, the funicular was the first funicular in Switzerland to lead directly to a ski resort. Today you can use it all year round.

  • Good to know: The train runs every 20 minutes.

Ride on the Piz Nair cable car (5 minutes)

From Corviglia, the cable car with 100 people takes you to Piz Nair. During the ride, you will climb 530 meters in altitude and float over the alpine landscape. The cabin offers you all-round views of the surrounding mountains. Once at the top, you stand at 3056 meters.

  • Good to know: The lift is not in operation during thunderstorms.
  • Tip: Take warm clothes with you, it's cool at 3000 meters.

Sunrise on the Piz Nair (Piz Nair Sunrise)

At the "Piz Nair Sunrise", the cable car reaches the summit before sunrise. You will experience how the first rays of sunshine bathe the Engadine mountains in golden light. Afterwards, a breakfast buffet awaits you in the summit restaurant with a view. The perfect start to an eventful day in the Upper Engadine.
