Intro
Hike to the Cungieri viewpoint and back. The path leads in long bends through open terrain. From the top, you get the best view over the Val Tujetsch. For a more leisurely alternative, take the Cuolm da Vi cable car from Sedrun to the intermediate station.
Description
Sedrun is situated in the upper Surselva on the sunny side of the valley below Oberalp Pass. This is where the Rhine River emerges from Lake Toma at 2,345 metres above sea level. The path climbs in long bends past the old valley station of the chair lift. This is open scenery with barely a tree or a bush to interrupt the view. Along the way, benches invite you to take a break. You can look out over the whole of the Val Tujetsch with the villages of Rueras and Sedrun, and listen to the happy voices coming from the children's skiing area in Valtgeva.
At regular intervals, the Matterhorn Gotthard Railway winds its way through the valley. The breathtaking mountain panorama extends from the imposing Piz Muraun in the east to Piz Badus in the west.
At the top, food and drink await you on the terrace of Ustria Cungieri – these days a popular hangout for winter hikers, snowshoers and freeriders. If you prefer to hike only one way, take the Cuolm da Vi cable car and get on or off at the Cungieri intermediate station.
An enjoyable tour includes the careful planning of the same. Please inform yourself in advance at the local information center about the route and weather conditions. Depending on the season and weather conditions, this route may be blocked or interrupted
