This circular tour leads you over the dreamy Bachers holiday village on Fähnerenspitz, one of the most beautiful vantage points in the Appenzellerland.
Description
The challenging snowshoe trail in terms of fitness starts in the village of Brülisau with its neo-Romanesque parish Church of St. Sebastian, which is worth seeing. On the way up you will pass the typical scattered settlements of the Appenzellerland and a large number of farmyards. The Fähnerenspitz, the highest point of the tour, will always be in your sights.
After the Bachers holiday village, you will gently climb in a wide arch towards the Resspass, where the wide-ranging panorama opens up over the Rhine valley. With views all the way to Lake Constance – the imposing peaks of Kamor and Hoher Kasten behind you – the route goes along the Krete to the summit cross of Fähnerenspitz. Once you have reached the top: you can enjoy the view to the Appenzellerland, Alpstein, Vorarlberg and over Lake Constance. For the first and last time you will briefly go through some wooded terrain.
Facing the wide valley basin of Appenzell, the path follows the signs to the west descending on the crown of the mountain ridge. After the intermediate destination of Alp Guggeier, where it's worth taking another break to look at the views, the path starts to descend a bit more steeply. You will soon reach Bachers holiday village over the summer alpine meadows, from which you follow the route you took on the way up down the valley to Brülisau.
