Gibelegg
Overview
Intro
Delightful landscapes and from technical point of view, attractive biking with constant ups and downs. The Gantrisch Biking tour leads around the Gibelegg, south-west of Riggisberg.
Description
Starting in Riggisberg village, the first climb takes place on traffic-poor asphalted roads up to the Gibeleggwald woods. One here, a zigzag trail through the woods leads to the highest Gibelegg point. On bumpy ground, the tour proceeds down to Schwand, before another short climb on the other side of the valley is leading through the beautiful Längeney forest.
There’s no end to the ups and downs – and the path now descends to Rütiplötsch; followed by a lengthy but not steep climb over gravel and field paths – interrupted in places by short asphalted stretches – up to the north face of the Gibelegg. The round tour is completed after a last downwards run through the valley to the starting point, Riggisberg.
Those who do the tour the other way round, with starting point in Rüschegg, follow the same path but omit the detour to Riggisberg.
An enjoyable tour includes the careful planning of the same. Please inform yourself in advance at the local information center about the route and weather conditions. Depending on the season and weather conditions, this route may be blocked or interrupted
