Jaunpass-Bäderegg-Weg
Overview
Intro
You are in for a wild experience: With the Wildstrubel massif and the wild spikes of Gastlosen in view, the winter hiking trail leads to Bäderegg through snowy meadows over the vast pass landscape.
Description
Jaunpass connects Simmental with the Gruyère region and is clearly a family ski resort with two lifts, multiple cross-country ski trails – and the winter hiking trail to Bäderegg. It starts on the Bäderhorn side of the pass at the valley station of the Zügwegen ski lift. It first goes along the railway line. After about 50 metres, it turns left, runs gently ascending on the edge of the ski slope and merges into the alpine road to Bädermoos. At a wide hairpin bend, you now trudge through the wintry mountain forest and over the alpine meadows of the Jaunpass.
Especially appealing: the view of the Wildstrubel massif, where the Canton of Berne meets the Canton of Valais. The razor-sharp peaks of Gastlosen are also impressive. The limestone towers of this mountain range, comprising total 61 peaks and secondary peaks, are justifiably called "Dolomites of Switzerland". When the Alps folded ten million years ago, the Malm limestone was pressed upwards from the surroundings. Exposed to weather conditions, the rock started eroding. This resulted in steep spikes, which bear unique names such as Katze [cat], kleiner Daumen [little thumb] or Zuckerspitz [sugar peak].
At the edge of the Chuchifang nature reserve, the groomed path deviates to the right and leads to Bäderegg over the hill range without considerable differences in height. This viewpoint captivates with a beautiful view of the Simmental mountains. You return to Jaunpass by taking the same route.
An enjoyable tour includes the careful planning of the same. Please inform yourself in advance at the local information center about the route and weather conditions. Depending on the season and weather conditions, this route may be blocked or interrupted
