Klettgauer Wein-Route
Overview
Intro
This route leads through the midst of Blauburgunderland, the winegrowing region of Schaffhausen. Discover Schaffhausen's winegrowing history in the picturesque winegrowing villages.
Description
The beautiful, timber-framed houses, the splashing water in the fountains, the enchanting courtyards, the idyllic alleys and nooks. On a trip along the bottom of the valley of sunny Klettgau the picturesque villages of Schaffhausen's rural communities, with their unique character and charm, await you. The countryside is covered with cornfields, and vineyards, where the Schaffhausen Pinot Noir grape ripens in the clay lime soil of the Jura foothills.
Poring over old manuscripts of the expert Roman winegrowers, monks and nuns discovered viniculture in the former Blauburgunderland. Today, Schaffhauserland is the largest contiguous winegrowing region in German-speaking Switzerland. In the idyllic winegrowing villages, Oberhallau, Hallau and Trasadingen, discover the wine culture of the Schaffhausen Pinot Noir and its rich history.
Enjoy the history of Schaffhausen's viniculture whilst sipping a velvety smooth, full-bodied Schaffhausen Pinot Noir.
