Intro
The descent from the Flumserberg through the Schilstal valley to Flums features shifts between woodland, Alpine meadows and wild single trails. In addition to far-reaching views into the valley, this harmonious trail offers a combination of flowing and abrupt technical passages.
Description
From Tannenheim, the route first rises gently up to the hamlet of Anggetlin, followed by a brief descent along a surfaced road heading towards Pasandel. This is where the first natural single trail starts, leading through an archetypal cultural landscape with meadows and individual farmsteads. You can also tackle technical passages on foot, if necessary. The interspersed flowing sections, such as those through the Bödem pasture, make for pleasant riding.
At Alp Bödem, there is a small, privately owned fish pond that makes for a nice photograph. Now the route runs through an open Alpine meadow and onward into the Schilstal valley. The section where the landscape transitions to woodland at Muntarüsch is gnarled with roots and tight bends, so make sure to watch how you cycle. The free-flowing trail through the woodland ends at the reservoir in Bruggwiti.
The way out of the valley gives you the chance for a brief rest before the gravel path branches off. Once you’ve crossed the Schils river, you will start the section along the slopes of the Flumser Kleinberg. The forest trail runs high over the river to Batschilswiese. Back in the woods again, you will find a particularly attractive and flowy single trail. It’s important to watch out for walkers during this section.
A brief uphill climb gives way to a steep descent onto a forest road, which you will follow for a while until you reach the hamlet of Flumserberg Portels. Passing by St. Johannes chapel, you will reach the final single trail that leads via Pravizin to Flums.
