Cardada Bike Locarno, Ticino

An adventurous circular trail around Cardada and Val Resa. Starting and ending in Locarno, this trail offers unforgettable views over Lake Maggiore and the surrounding region. If you don’t fancy tackling the ascent yourself, you can take the funicular railway and cable car from Ascona via Orsellina up to Cardada.

This circular trail is a belter! Starting from the Alpe Foppa (also accessible by train), the trail climbs steeply up to the Capanna Tamaro, with rewarding views over the valley floor, Lake Lugano and Lake Maggiore. The long downhill section that follows is technically challenging, passing through forests and across Alps before reaching the valley with the Vedeggio river running through it.
