The Gold Digger Couloir, the Haunted Slope – the names alone are something to conjure with. The ski safari is a true highlight of the Alps. Even though the locals have been skiing this off-piste route from Lenzerheide to Arosa and on to the quaint village of Tschiertschen for decades, it is still an insider tip. In just one day you will have conquered over 3,000 metres of the best deep snow runs. The tour is the most enjoyable and comfortable route involving the least amount of effort. The cable car takes you to the peak quickly and comfortably. This way you conserve your energy for all those powder sprays. And yet, this is a long day.

Once you leave your first marks in the snow, you will know that the day has only begun. A freerider's dream!

Your wild ride on powder starts on the 2,845 metre high Rothorn. The first leg is a 1,000 metre long off-piste run down to Arosa. When you get back to the ski area, it's a good idea to recharge with a good meal at a mountain restaurant. The Hörnli chair lift and Urdenbahn cable car take you back to the Lenzerheide side. Next comes the long downhill run to Tschiertschen – and you've just conquered another 1,200 metre run. Are you ready for the grand finale? Take a selfie in front of the endless Gürgaletsch panorama before you start down the last run – naturally it's all powder down to either Parpan or Churwalden.

  • 3,150 metres of downhill runs – and some routes are even longer.
  • 2,865 metres above sea level - the highest summit is the Rothorn.
  • 43 cable cars are waiting for you in Arosa Lenzerheide.
  • 86 francs is the price of a ski safari ticket – including public transport to Chur.
