Table rase
Overview
Intro
A cheerfully improvised attempt to understand the world
What if, for once, improv stopped trying to get it right? With *Table rase*, the Slalom theater company dives headfirst into the world of the theater of the absurd and transforms failure, confusion, and misunderstanding into the very driving forces of the performance.Inspired by Beckett, Pinter, and Ionesco, the show features characters entangled in flawed logic, impossible-to-follow rules, and systems that seem designed to never work. Here, words clarify nothing. On the contrary, they confuse, mislead, and complicate matters. Language becomes a slippery slope where everyone struggles as best they can to maintain their balance. Watching the performers grapple with constraints that are sometimes impossible to meet, we laugh a lot. But behind the absurdity, very real questions also emerge: those of our powerlessness, our contradictions, and the mechanisms that are beyond our control. A theatrical experience as chaotic as it is exhilarating, where the anxiety of creation becomes a joyful form of poetry.
