At Huus Löwen you can feel the Appenzellerland in every corner. Traditional craftsmanship, combined with sustainable, modern elements, create a unique, cozy ambiance in the Huus Löwen. Here, both the down-to-earth sounds of traditional music event 'stobete' and the splashing of the hot pot can fill the air.

Wedding

The two wedding venues, Huus Bären and Huus Löwen, can be found at the heart of the village of Gonten, in one of the most romantic areas of Switzerland. Something extraordinary has been created here in Appenzell Innerrhoden. With a wonderfully traditional yet modern architectural language, exclusive premises, culinary delights and 44 richly designed rooms and suites are united under one roof. In the new Huus Löwen, up to 60 guests can celebrate this most special of days for the happy couple. In fine weather, the hotel garden can be used for drinks and the reception.

Boutique & Design Hotel

The neat, Appenzell-style listed building has been one of the most magnificent structures in the region for over 400 years. The hotel with its 25 rooms and suites has been lovingly renovated in recent years. Enchanting wood elements, the finest timber floors and stylish fireplace stoves make up the cosy charm of this boutique hotel. Beneath the eaves, the inviting wellness area includes a Finnish sauna and steam bath, with a rooftop hot tub just outside – the perfect place to relax. The Bärenstobe restaurant is well-known to gourmets from far beyond Appenzell, and the hotel’s historic wine cellar offers an impressive range of the finest wines.

Meetings

New event spaces in Eastern Switzerland. With the Appenzeller Huus, a new MICE destination is being created in Gonten in the Appenzellerland. The Appenzeller Huus comprises two houses. The 3-star Huus Bären has 20 individually furnished rooms, junior suites and residences in Appenzeller chic. Three restaurants and seminar rooms in a modern design complete the offer. The team surprises its guests with their creative and regional cuisine. At the end of June 2023, the new 4-star Huus Löwen will open with 22 rooms and suites, a restaurant with garden terrace and the Löwensaal that seats up to 60 people.

Directions by car: Coming from Zurich/Winterthur or coming from St. Gallen via A1, exit SG-Winkeln/Herisau/Gossau Ost, then towards Winkeln/Route 8, at the roundabout towards Urnäsch, then turn left towards Zürchersmühle, then straight ahead on Stechlenegg to Gonten, Dorfstr. 29. Directions with public transport: From St. Gallen IR/RE to Herisau, then S23 to Gonten, the hotel is located 100 meters from the train station. From Zurich IR/RE to Gossau, then S23 to Gonten, the hotel is located 100 meters from the train station.
