Mappa
Boetti is an Italian concept artist who is regarded as a member of the Arte Povera movement. He is mainly renowned for a series of world maps ('Mappa' in Italian). Boetti commissioned the first Mappa from embroiderers during his trip to Afghanistan in 1971. This is a political map embroidered on fabric, showing national borders at the time when it was produced. Each country is identified by the colour and design of its national flag.
