Romont, a small picturesque town dating back from the 10th century, is located on the main roads and railway lines connecting Lausanne and Fribourg, between the lakes and the mountains.

Built on the top of a hill, Romont is a medieval town rich in history and art. Its castle, with a a beautiful court yard shelters the Swiss Stained Glass Museum. Its gothic Church is decorated with stained glass Windows from 15th to 20th century, with wooden stalls and with sculptures. Surrounded by city walls and watching towers, shops and restaurants welcome the traveller. Beyond the city wall, the Cistercian Abbey « Fille-Dieu » (Glasswindows of Brian Clarke) allows the visitor to rest and meditate. Guided tours may be arranged trough the Tourist Information Office. Advance notice is necessary.

The surrounding countryside, for example the « Bois de Boulogne » provides areas for sports and leisure, hiking and biking paths and mountain bike circuits are also available. The visitor may choose to stay at the farm or enjoy the contemporary stained glass tours, in a relaxed «art de vivre».
