Johannes Millius - Lively on the finish
The “Jungsegler” Young Artists Award was launched in 2018. Its goal is to provide long-term support and guidance to artist collectives and individual artists in the performing arts who are at the beginning of their professional careers. A selection committee nominates productions that were presented as full-length performances in August 2026 as part of the nordArt Theater Festival, in front of an audience and a jury of experts. This year’s “Jungsegler” Emerging Artist Award goes to Johannes Millius for his solo program “Im Abgang lebhaft.” “Im Abgang lebhaft” navigates the tension between a love story and a pre-printed condolence card. Johannes R. Millius on a journey to his innermost self—past the southern slopes of La Rioja, the Zähringer Pharmacy in Bern, and crates full of LEGO bricks. A spoken-word evening, oscillating between offering condolences and breaking down. With heart, mischief, absurdity, poetry, madness—and an urn. It is the story of a love that ended too soon and yet remains. Where memories suddenly speak louder than words, Millius finds humor in the dust of transience. Love and death meet on equal footing—sometimes awkwardly, sometimes tenderly. An evening that offers comfort without becoming cheesy, and makes you laugh when you least expect it.
