Intro

In Martigny in Valais, the Fondation Pierre Gianadda combines world art with a Gallo-Roman museum, a collection of vintage cars and one of the most beautiful sculpture parks in Europe. The exhibitions change several times a year.

The Pierre Gianadda Foundation at a glance

The private cultural foundation in Martigny was opened in 1978 on the foundations of the oldest Gallo-Roman temple in Switzerland. More than 10 million visitors have seen her temporary exhibitions with works from large private collections since then. The ensemble includes an archaeology museum, an automobile museum and a sculpture park.

What to experience

Visit temporary exhibition and sculpture park (2-3 hours)

The Fondation Pierre Gianadda is internationally renowned for its major temporary exhibitions. Works by Goya, Modigliani, Chagall and Schiele have already filled entire halls here. Outside, there is also the sculpture park with around 40 original works by Brancusi, Arp, César and Niki de Saint-Phalle.

  • Good to know: Current exhibitions and concert series can be found on the website.
  • Tip: Combine the visit with a walk through the old town of Martigny.

Explore the Archaeology Museum and Automobile Museum (1 hour)

In the basement are the exposed foundations of the Temple of Mercury. Coins, jewellery and bronze statuettes tell of the ancient Octodurus, today's Martigny. 50 vehicles from the years 1897 to 1939 await you in the Automobile Museum, including rare Swiss brands such as the Pic-Pic, of which hardly any examples still exist.

  • Good to know: All areas are included in admission.
