Sareis – Liechtenstein's mountain
Intro
The Sareis mountain ridge lies 400 meters above the village, with a chairlift taking you there to where a mountain restaurant and scenic hikes into Liechtenstein country attract outdoor lovers; including the Fürstin-Gina trail.
The Fürstin-Gina trail not only bears a noble name instead captures majestic views on a path leading up to the Augstenberg, down to the authentic Pfälzer hut of Liechtenstein’s alpine association, and back to Malbun. And side-tracking to the Naakopf you also catch a glimpse of the Rhine Valley.
Mountain-bikers often select own routes from the Liechtenstein/Werdenberg map, while others are keen to get underway on the adventurous 3.5 km natural trail to the valley.
Once a month, the mountain restaurant with a sun terrace serves a mountain breakfast with music. Other notable attractions in Malbun include the birds of prey show and hikes accompanied by a real golden eagle – an experience once reserved for princes, kings and emperors.
