Housed in a medieval paper mill, the museum offers a fascinating atmosphere being a combination of museum and production workshops. It is one of the few museums in Europe to maintain and preserve the historic techniques at an authentic venue.
The building housing the Basel Paper Mill was completely refurbished. At the same time the content and design of the permanent collection was renewed in its entirety and the visitor management revamped and made more attractive. The expanded offerings of visitor activity points, demonstrations and workshops have made the Basel Paper Mill well worth a visit of rediscovery. Children and adults are invited to try and make their own paper in the medieval environment of the Basel Paper Mill.
