Intro

The BLS RegioExpress will bring you to one of Switzerland's most original areas.

Route:
Bern - Konolfingen - Langnau - Trubschachen - Schüpfheim - Wolhusen - Lucerne

The BLS RegioExpress trains run between Bern and Lucerne at hourly intervals. Travel time: approx. 1h30.

The route from Bern to Lucerne through the Emmental Valley and Entlebuch is a secret tip among Swiss train routes. Typical for the Emmental are the farmhouses with deep roofs that dot the rolling hills. Cows grazing on the lush green meadows supply the milk for the world-famous Emmental cheese with the large holes. Visitors who continue their journey through Entlebuch traverse Switzerland’s first UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. Fascinating moorlands and a multifaceted flora and fauna characterize this award-winning landscape. It is worthwhile to make stops en route: in Schüpfheim the PostBus “Panorama Route Express” awaits visitors and takes them through the Lammschlucht, a canyon, to Sörenberg and further on via the panoramic route to Giswil, where one can get train connections to Lucerne and Interlaken. The Kambly experience in Trubschachen, which lets visitors immerse themselves with all their senses into the secrets of pastry art, is worth a visit as well. Those who prefer exotic plants will be in their element in the Tropical House Wolhusen with its variety of tropical plants and crops.
