Friday, 10 am: Oasis of tranquillity.

The grounds of the Villa Boveri are the most important private gardens in Baden and a listed monument. Blissfully tranquil, the site is open to the public daily, free of charge. Highlights include the neo-baroque terraced garden and the modern sculptures displayed among giant old trees. The exquisite villa, built in 1897, was the home of the family of Walter Boveri, co-founder of Brown Boveri & Cie.

Friday, 6 pm: Young cultural venue.

It’s worth visiting this former industrial site, more than 100 years old, for the ambiance alone. The Werkk is an original cultural centre for young people which opened in September 2015 in a converted forge. Concerts, club nights, flea markets, catering, local and international artists: the Werkk offers a programme packed with creative ideas and projects, devised by and for people aged 16 to 25.

Saturday, 10 am: Visiting the Browns.

The Villa of the Brown-Sulzer family is an unusual mix of English and local architectural styles, built in the early-20th century. The interiors house an impressive collection of French Impressionist paintings as well as exquisite furniture, and give a fascinating idea of the opulent life of this family of industrialists. Enjoy the villa’s historical grounds in style – with a picnic on the lush lawns.
