Espace Horloger - Vallée de Joux
Overview
Intro
The EH seeks to stand out and assert its personality by offering an original presentation of watchmaking, its history and its skills through interactive and instructive media.
Located in Le Sentier, the Espace Horloger uses the most modern and interactive techniques to immerse visitors in the secrets of time. In this museum, complication watches, historical pieces, and virtual equipment tell the story of the watchmaking crafts and history of the Vallée de Joux. The Espace Horloger invites visitors of all ages, whether novices or enthusiasts, to dive into the fascinating world of watchmaking.
On the first floor, the "Espace métiers" highlights all the skills required to make a watch, as well as the training needed to access these professions. The visit continues in a small cinema room where a short film presents watchmaking in its natural environment: the Vallée de Joux and the many facets of its heritage.
Upon reaching the upper floor, visitors discover the Gidéon collection, which traces the international history of time measurement. This space is designed as a walk through the Risoud forest. The final room reveals to the public the history of the Vallée, its economic development, and its expertise, showcasing the watchmaking complications, a symbol of local talent recognized worldwide.
