Die Engel, die während der Weihnachtszeit allgegenwärtig sind, verkünden und feiern die Geburt Jesu. Engel und Erzengel, die wundersame biblische Szenen beleben, haben ihren Ursprung in der Antike.
In the exceptional setting of Gruyères Castle, Angels Without End invites the public to meet part of the heavenly procession. Christmas angels and their attributes—musical instruments, fleurs-de-lis, crowns, scepters, and phylacteries—feature in works of art and ancient liturgical objects. They reveal themselves in all their facets, from graceful cherubs to solemn messengers. The exhibition is enriched by the perspectives of artists Diane Deschenaux, Anja Jenny, and Maria Eugenia Poblete, who explore the figure of the angel... right down to its demonic double.
