Intro
A powerful dance piece by Mirjam Barakar and four Palestinian dancers: Dabke meets contemporary dance, merging tradition and expression while inviting dialogue amid current conflicts.
This dance performance was created in collaboration between the Swiss-based dancer and choreographer Mirjam Barakar
and four Palestinian dancers. Created during a co-production at the Ramallah Contemporary Dance Festival in 2023 and
further developed in Zurich in 2024, this remarkable performance is now coming to Glarus, Zürich and Istanbul. Elements of "Dabke"
(Palestinian folkloric dance) and contemporary dance merge and touch. Likewise the dancers' personalities; their dance
resembles a "dance on a volcano". their bodies as narrative intruments bring us closer to the human being in the
"plaything of powers". Against the backdrop of the current situation in the Middle East, the performance invites the
audience to engage in dialogue
