Intro

This circular route takes you across lush Alpine meadows and along the Nessjeri bisse to Nessel and back.

From the upper station of the aerial cableway, the route initially leads to Chiematte. If you like, you can treat yourself to a little something to keep you going here before continuing the hike. After crossing Alpine meadows to the Kelchbach river, there is a short ascent to the Nessjeri bisse.

First mentioned in 1477, the Nessjeri begins at 2,140 metres near the Kelchbach. At first, it runs at an almost imperceptible incline across a rock balcony diagonally opposite the Aletsch Glacier to Nessel, then plunges down into the valley as a frothing stream.

Once in Nessel, you can have a rest and enjoy panoramic views. On the way back, the trail leads underneath the bisse to Alpe Bäll, and then back to the hike’s starting point.
