Lake Constance container
Intro
A new tourist attraction has been on display at the harbour in Kreuzlingen. Fascinating stories about transport history in the Lake Constance Region are being presented in a walk-in container of discovery. A converted freight container features an illuminated three-dimensional Lake Constance light fixture complete with peepholes and the stair access to the container roof. Visitors can leave their mark by writing a message on a chalk board.
Description
To Bella Italia and back – these were the instructions issued to the Lindau Messenger, a courier service that operated between Lindau and Milan from the early 14th century until 1826. A visit to the new container of discovery in Romanshorn soon reveals the major role played by the Lake Constance Region in the history of transport.
The three-dimensional Lake Constance light fixture set up inside the container has peepholes through which visitors can gain some interesting insights into the transport histories of Romanshorn, Bregenz, Lindau, Friedrichshafen and Kreuzlingen/Constance. The stair-access to the container roof provides visitors with a real-life view of the players in these histories. There is also a chalk board where visitors can leave a message.
