Intro

Lose yourself in the past: the Talmuseum is located in the middle of the village of Engelberg, in the so-called “Heraldry House”, a farm house built between 1786 and 1787.

The historic living quarters inside the museum vividly illustrate the day-to-day life of the population of the Engelberg valley in the late 18th century. Family altars and holy cards are witnesses of the local catholic faith. But simple cooking utensils, bed spreads filled with leaves and hobnailed wooden shoes also tell of a frugal life full of hard work in days gone by.

The museum is sponsored by the Josef Amstutz-Langenstein foundation with the support of the municipality and community of Engelberg.
